I have so many fond memories of Thanksgiving. Like, the year I was dressed as a pilgrim and I so eloquently asked Nana if I could have her peach iridescent bowl when she dies. Of course she said yes, and recently Nana gave me the dish. Before you judge, I was nine years old and it was the most beautiful dish my eyes had seen.
Every year we go around the table and share what we are thankful for. How about the year I stated, “I’m thankful for Nana’s uterus.” I was as serious as a heart attack. With out her uterus, my Mother would not be here and so on. You get the picture.
This year, Thanksgiving takes on an entire new meaning for me. I have a family of my own with new traditions to start. Today, I got to sing, “over the river and through the woods to Grandma’s house we go…” in preparation for our drive to my parents. My Mom sang this to us as we traveled to the lake every holiday.
Today, as we gather around the dinner table, I could take the entire day sharing what I am thankful for. However, I will try to spare my family with my sappy side and keep it simple. I am thankful for my loving family, my incredible husband who is the perfect Daddy to our sweet baby girl, a healthy pregnancy and our beautiful healthy baby girl.
I am one blessed Momma.
